Lawsuit to Block 21 Egyptian Blogs

A lawsuit to block a number of Egyptian websites, including blogs who participated in a discussion about Internet Freedoms, is on its way says Human Rights activists in Egypt.
Judge Abdel Fattah Morad, head of Alexandria Appeal Court, has started a lawsuit against the government in Egypt’s Administrative Courts in order to block a number of Egyptian websites. The list, 21-websites-long, includes the blogs and sites that took part in the discussion around the book the Judge has written, and the wide plagiarism evident in the book copying HRInfo’s report on Internet Freedoms in the Arab World, and a how-to-blog guide written by blogger Bent Masreya.

Question is, how are they planning to block the websites? Is it access to the blogs who are going to be stopped, or are they also hoping to shut the sites down?

Most likly just access to blogs, but in some cases they may be able to force the websites offline. If you currently have an Egyption web-host, I'd get a new one, preferably in a Western country.

Also, Start looking at proxy servers to get around their filtering...

The Palestinians have done it again. This time they have kidnapped a BBC journalist. Now how does that help their case , I don't know , what do they gain by doing this , again I don't know. What I do know is that they (the Palestinians will never miss a chance to screw themselves.
We have seen them over the years send suicide bombers onto buses while their elected leader (Arafat) was sitting negotiating. Kidnapping aid workers, journalists, setting fire to the British council office and planting a bomb in the Al arabiya office. Now they keep on saying they want the west to help them with their cause !!!! Why would anyone want to help them when they do stupid things like these . The government needs to get a grip on what is happening and the people have to wake up and smell the coffee.

I too have heard that a personal reputation infringement lawsuit targeting China's biggest blog website is to be heard in court next month. Simply the latest in a line of literary hoaxes going back to the dark ages.

I believe and you might say I am an optimist, but I believe that even if they stop some blog websites, they would not be able to stop all of them. Which in the long run might more clarity to the Arab world of how their politicians stand behind a cause that is not always for anyone’s good (in a modest way).
In general most governments try to manipulate the media. In the Arab countries it looks like it is more and probably in chine it is extreme. Some how I believe, that the internet can help global peace.
