Child Violence Hotline Receives 25,000 Calls
Heartbreaking news, Suzi: An emergency telephone hotline set up in Egypt to tackle violence against children received 25,000 calls in its first 24 days of operation. But only 1,200 of these calls were “real complaints” that were acted upon. The remaining calls were related to street-children, legal and psychological concerns regarding children. Among the calls that triggered action was that from a little girl who were afraid she would be circumcised. Another call was about a teacher hitting pupils. [egypt!] [children!] [human rights!]
