Enough! Abducted Journalist
Security forces has abducted a journalist says the opposition organization Kefaya (Enough). Plainclothes members of the security forces took Saher Gad from the daily Al-Guil from his home, according to the journalist’s family. He had received threats telling him not to take part in Kefaya demonstrations.
The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) published a 35 page report in June that is describing frequent assaults on journalists in Egypt. Violations consist of sexual assaults on female journalists and attacks on male journalists within sight and hearing of the security forces.
When these journalists complained to the attorney general, their families were told charges would be fabricated against them, they would be detained or the journalists would lose their jobs.
IFEX – International Freedom of Expression eXchange – is listing further cases here.
