Egypt Returnee Faces Torture

Says the BBC: Human rights lawyers in the US have criticised the Pentagon's decision to send a detainee at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp back to his native Egypt. Sami al-Laithi was transferred at the weekend after being held without charge at the camp for more than three years. Lawyers for the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights said there was a risk he could be jailed or tortured in Egypt. The Pentagon said Egypt had guaranteed he would be treated humanely.
