Cracking Mystery of Snapping Pasta

I never really thought about why dry spaghetti snaps in three pieces and not one when bent but then again I'm not a Nobel laureate (as this scientist is) and it would perhaps make my kitchen less messy if someone fabricated the one-snap-only pasta. No joking, the big brains can tell you how this research extend into other, more or less - depending on where you stand - important areas.
