Cindy Leaves Crawford in a Rush

Sheehan’s 74 year old mother suffered a heart attack Thursday, forcing the protesting mom to end her campaign at Crawford in a rush.

“It’s not about me, it is about the war,” she said in her last blog (for now) in response to criticism from media and bloggers such as Drudge. But it is about Cindy too; about her pain and how we wish she would take care of herself and her family.

The president chose to keep her outside the fence because he realizes there is little point discussing with someone in such state of her grief. What would you say to a mother who tells you to “sign up his two little party-animal girls”? That they are parents too? That they are sorry Casey died? That their girls are free to volunteer? Bush proved his decency and statesmanship by letting the circus unfold outside his ranch without him. If this week has a winner, it is definitely him. The war-debate was re-opened, what will follow is a discussion he most certainly will win.
