Ahlan Wa Sahlan, 18 Million Foreigners

Suzi love, ‘Egypt’ wants the number of tourists to double. Well, our beloved mother of the world may be crumbling but at least we have the sun to offer. But where shall we put them? I don’t mean to question the statement that the private sector need to invest a yearly tiny sum of $ 1,4 billion until 2015 (question: will the government match this with investments in infrastructure?). I mean, where shall we physically fit them? It is not that there is any inch of Alexandria’s beaches left for khawagas during the summer anyway, obese cairenes are all over the place. The entire north coast, except from the last stretch to Libya (where no one wants to go), has been turned into an architectural nightmare. Can we fit any more hotels on the Red Sea Coast? Where the resorts end, the land belongs to the army. Sinai? I thought remaining, undeveloped areas where supposed to be protected eco-parks. Oh, I know! Let’s do as in Cairo, just add an additional ten floors on top of already more or less collapsing housing blocks.
